Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum contract term?
No. Rufio can be cancelled monthly – no notice periods, no hidden fees.
What happens if I go over my included minutes?
Additional minutes are billed automatically – 0.20 € per minute on the Start plan, 0.18 € on Business and 0.16 € on Enterprise. You can see your usage live in the dashboard at any time.
Can I switch plans?
Yes – drop us a line and we'll move you over. The new plan applies from your next invoice; the current month is not recalculated pro rata. The switch deliberately runs through us rather than the customer portal, so that the base price and the per-minute price always match.
Is there a plan for sole traders?
Yes – the sole trader plan costs 19 € per month including 50 call minutes. Beyond that you pay 0.20 € per minute. From around 250 call minutes a month, the Start plan works out cheaper.
Is there a trial?
Yes – 14 days free, without giving a payment method. The trial ends automatically; no obligation to pay arises.
Do I need new hardware or a new phone number?
No. Rufio works through a simple call forward on your existing number – with Telekom, Vodafone, FRITZ!Box, sipgate and practically any phone system. Setting it up takes under an hour and needs no IT knowledge.
What language does Rufio speak?
Rufio is optimised for German and copes well with regional colouring as a rule. That is not a promise that every utterance is understood correctly – in case of doubt Rufio hands over to your team. Further languages are planned.
What happens if Rufio does not understand a request?
In case of doubt, Rufio passes the call straight to your team – with a spoken summary of the conversation so far, so the caller does not have to start again.
Is Rufio GDPR-compliant?
We process calls for you as a processor and provide a data processing agreement (Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag, AVV) under Art. 28 GDPR for it. Which service providers are involved in a call and where they process it – some of them outside the EU, covered by standard contractual clauses – is set out in full in our privacy policy. We do not use call content to train AI models of our own.
Do callers notice they are speaking to an AI?
Yes – Rufio identifies itself as an AI assistant at the start of the call. That is exactly what Art. 50 of the EU AI Act has required since August 2026, and it builds trust. The voice still sounds natural, and anyone who would rather speak to a person is put straight through to your team.
